Arctic Monkeys are Dangerous Animals
Friday – november 6th, 2009 – Paris / Zénith -
Paris was pleased to welcome the spotty british, twice in a week, by this wet fall of 2009. An overcrowded place was ready to go wild.
Thing is that you can NOT go to an Arctic Monkeys show and then act like nothing happened. The least we could say is that we didn’t make it through it completely sane.
An Arctic Monkey show is like an initiatory ritual. You come in with your brain and you get out with a chickpea.

Shit is INTENSE!
The night started with Eagles Of Death Metal as the opening band. A strong name for a classic rock performance.
The frontman totaly got into the metal attitude while his mates played the eagles. All in all, we learned that Death could dance on some Beyonce moves.

I bet you look good onstage
Then, came the Monkeys. Very talkative as you can guess. Those guys don’t speak, they performe. It is not about the mise-en-scene. It is not about a rock-n-roll attitude. It really is about music.
We could see that their hairs grew wild since they last played there in july 2007. Not only the hairs but also the band. Dude, they almost look like grown-ass-men now!

Dangerous Animals
“Paris is magic” – yes, we are. So magic that we even took it easy when frontman Alex Turner sang “All The Single Ladies”. It, indeed, seemed that Mr Turner felt better on stage. Maybe a little less shy, not so hidden behind his guitar anymore.
Beside those human views, the new material from their lastest album “Humbug” fits – surprisingly – great with their older faster songs. A perfect musical performance fueled by a finely-worked lighting and two giant lateral screens.

Crying Lightning
All in all, the show revealed an improved singing deepened by hot melodies and a very british sense of humour. The show was a real concept.
It was mind blowing!
